We had a houseguest for a week lately... his name was Paws.
He came from Bialla...a wonderful place where Kane goes once a week to help with his Speech & social development. Kane loved Paws... so much so that he cried when he had to return him to be sent to visit with another child. He still even mentions him from time to time. Funny how he can have a teddy bear from birth and it just sits on the shelf with no personality or attachment... but give a sense of importance to a bear, especially through people that aren't family ... and it's a whole other story.
It's a great idea... if you're interested... just ask a friend or teacher to ask your your son or daughter to mind their teddy bear or doll for a week. Then you could say you're going to do a story about their adventures and it will turn into a great adventure for you both... as well as an invaluable learning tool for your child as well.
Here's the story Kane and I created together for him to talk about to the Bialla group. And I was very proud of him when he got up confidently in front of a group of about 15 adults and kids... just so excited to tell of his adventures with Paws.
I have to thank Bialla for introducing such a wonderful activity.
